my first short fashion film. just random clips of me dancing and making a idiot of myself. compiled the video last night never went to bed until 8am so please excuse if this post doesn't make sense, i don't think the copious amounts of hot drinks i consumed last night help. anyways (i say this alot don't ask why) the film was inspired by certain fashion commercials such as the awesome prada ss10 fark that commercial is amazing. why can't they put commercials like that on t.v. bitch. also rihanna's music video for rude boy came to mind as i was editing. epualettes in video handmade by moi and yes that is some crazy ass hair shoulder drama. hope you like, im pretty happy with the result keeping in mind that its one of my first edited films.

goodbeyebrows
severe boredom, a mild hangover and bad weather resulted in me trying one of the fashion worlds most on-going trend. bleached; or as i abbreviate it, no eyebrows. i wasn't really in favour of this trend when earlier in the year a friend publicly announced she was going to shave off the delicate eye protecters which to her dismay didn't go down to well with her facebook status comment droppers. but here i sit actually really digging the trend and contemplating wether to bleach my own eyebrows (i'm weird don't question it) the look has been evident on the catwalk in such shows as balenciaga, prada, lanvin, marc jacobs and louis vuitton (me thinks that marc has an eyebrow hate or something traumatizing) but the movement doesn't stop there with fashion houses such as givenchy transitioning the look into their fall winter 09 advertisments which was fucking amazing can i just add.
spot a pair of brows
so off i ventured into the androgynous land of no eyebrows, equipped with a glue stick, a knife and an assortment of foundations which were kindly donated by my sister (which she actually has no clue about) so basically i just covered my brows over with glue which is a trick used in drag so they say. so i did about 4 coats of glue and its important that you wait for each layer to dry before adding another on top or else the glue will start to clump and flake off around the edges and we're not going for that nasty drunken drag look. after the 4 or so layers it should be ready to apply the coverup but through trial and error i realized i should have really applied a white face paint or something of the sort down first to act as a base because you could still faintly see my brows in the finished product. but watevs. pictchas pictchas
ohai brows
please excuse the shitty photobooth pictures. at first it's kinda like woah, real in your face but after a minute or so i actually really liked it so much i'm actually contemplating bleaching my eyebrows just for fun like pelayo from kate loves me. hmmm i'll have to seriously think about that. so yah basically only took like ten to fifteen minutes and i'm pretty happy with the end result. i was also thinking about using this technique for any upcoming photo shoots i do if the model is comfortable with the whole idea. oh yea and to remove i just ran a face cloth under hot hot (gotta be reeeel hot y'all) water and just wiped it off - works wayyy easier that way instead of like make up remover and the like.

alexander the great

so i know i'm kind of late in doing a recap of a spring summer show but whatevs, its awesome so plz just sit there and listen. the collection seems based around a lot of neutral, earthy based colours such as beige, whites, grays, blues and browns which was a great contradiction when most designers were in favour of a bright punchy colour scheme such as louis vuitton, emporio armani and bottega veneta. the silhouette of the clothes looked very similar to his previous fall/winter 2009 collection, the dark 1800's sweeney todd meets the gangs of new york. but what was interesting was the symmetrical patterns printed on the blazers and shirts which were similar to the dresses at his novelty womenswear spring summer 2010 collection.

although alexander may be gone his design aesthetic lives on even though i know that no one can quite compete with what he did. hopefully his passing left the fashion world with a reminder that fashion isn't just about the way the clothes look, but the way they can bring across different ideas and emotions which i feel alexander was really awe-inspiring in. taken too soon. rest in peace.

crazy cash containments
ok so sorry for the delayed post to those of you who stumble across my small mini pixel-size part of the internet. blah blah *cue the lame excuse about school and something bullshitty that sounds believable* blah blah. so anyways while browsing all different corners of the INTERWEBZ i came across some very interesting wallets. fashion can get crazy some times especially with these creations. shaped as odd and un-expected items the wallets will add a personal and quirky touch to anyones outfits! (if you're brave enough)

the cassette tape wallet by marcella foschi combines a vintage cassette tape and a fabric zipper to create a cute little coin purse or just a miscellaneous pouch for carrying various necessities. RETRO AT ITS BEST. also may be easy to d.i.y which i might try do if i get the time. available here for $39
the hamburger wallet by toddland is something that i could see myself carrying around for laughs because i get cheap thrills like that. not for the plain jane this wallet is bound to bring some unwanted attention. retail price of $25US on fredflare here

and last but not least the buttered toast wallet! this one made me laugh. its functional and super funny at the same time. retail of $16US available via fred flare here.
so get crazy bitches and add one of these funky pieces to your wardrobe to lighten up yo' day!

"fuck the price on the tag just throw it in the bag"
un-huh un-huh un-huh just throw it in the bag. jeeeeezzzz i don't know where to begin. the sheen of the gorgeous supple metallic dyed leather, the chic collar that sits perfectly around the dino's neck, the way the little fella (i'm going to assume its a fella) sits calmly under ones' arm or the overall bangin' triceratop shape? for spring 2010 mr giles deacon decided to pull up a pre-historic fantasy with a dinosaur shape shoulder bag. but no, no, no not just any dinosaur bag but metallic TRICERATOP dinosaur bag!. the novelty bag which has been featured on blogging sites like jak and jill, fat fashion assistant and the fashionista, is not one for the conforming fashion follower with jessica bumpus from vouge uk saying "possibly the most statement of statement-making bags we've seen on the catwalk throughout fashion week"
it is unknown though if the bags will make it to mass production (like nina ricci's platfrom boots from their fall 2009 collection) and since DA FASHUN MAGAZINE EDITORS ARE BEING GREEDY it wont help the circulation of the tongue in cheek creation. anyways as i was looking at the bags there was something cryptic going on in my mind, a feeling of de-ja vu or connection to some thing i had seen before. then it hit me like i'd just heard the numbers i had horizontally selected on my lottery ticket (which never happened by the way... well yet) it reminded me of a childhood classic. something that was almost religious to me. which kinda frightens me now to think of it.... baby bop from barney the dinosaur!!!
LARGE COLOR CLASHING FRIENDS FTW
voila! pictures above and i thought it would be fun to throw in some cute sesame street backpacks that i spotted as well. anyways it's totally 12.45am on my clock and i have to be at school by 9am. so ima leave for now and hopefully post something tomorrow.

s.h.o.e. p.o.r.n
so..................................................................................................long time no post sheshhh my last post was october! FARK. anyways enough dilly dally i'll just get straight back into it. starting up a new season of blogging (notice the new header if you have visited before hopefully you have....but most likely not) with no other than some quick well deserved eye-gasmic shoe porn.
balenciaga fall 2010-2011
to begin with i chose one of my favorite shoes of the season the balenciaga fall 2010-2011 chunky shoe. i know that just about everyone under the blogging sun has posted about these but it cant hurt to see those delicious color blocked (literally speaking) babies once again.
nicolas ghesquiere (creative director for balenciaga for those of you who don't know him - picture above) (ohai nicolas!) has struck gold in my opinion in creating these futuristic, multi colored, textural, stacked chunky heels which everyone is lusting over. the avant gar-de wardrobe statements feature an array of pastel tones throughout, with a few light shades of what appears to be wood on the front covering and base of the shoe. inside the heel sit a variety of different materials which look to be solid colored plexiglass, colored marble and wood. innocently stacked upon one another which excell the wearer to extreme fashion heights. a loafer inspired form is prominent in the collection with perfectly placed skinny buckles and visible stitching which off-sets the mix of textured fabrics and materials thus tying the shoe together in complete futuristic elegance, a trade mark of nicholas's aesthetic. plus what better way to present these shoes than a light up floor!! (cue the applause) it ads to the futuristic look of the shoe and gives us a better look into the structure and tonal qualities these delectable shoes present.

(oooooo ahhhhh please stare in amazement. picture from style.com)
when i look at these shoes i think an infusion of re-modified loafers, stacking blocks and marble. these beauties will sure bring you some spectators
christian louboutin mens spring 2010
usually known for his signature pumps and sky-high stiletto's, mr. louboutin is often forgotten or simply not known as a mens footwear designer . the designer who's shoes are often seen on just about every celebrity has recently released a new mens collection which consists of three staggering looks. first spotted in early december on musician and fashion designer himself; pharrell williams, photos of the shoes were quickly swimming round the internet with people eager to see more (or maybe that was just me). finally official pictures surfaced and behold, the wonderful creations in the flesh!!!!
the all over cone studded sexiness comes in three variations. the notorious high top sneaker; a 7 eyelet lace up available in either black or white and the freddy flat; a smartly studded 5 eyelet patent leather brogue complete with waxed laces. i die i die for the freddy brogues!!!. retail approx 750euro. which i can so not afford, well hey at least dreams are free (to cliche ariki to cliche) or a potential d.i.y project..... i shall update if proceeded!
alexander wang freja bootie (spring summer 2010)
inspired by the danish beauty herself, the freja bootie from alexander wang's spring summer 2010 collection is on hot demand. one of the most blogged about shoes of the season they've been spotted on a large percentage of models even with rihanna wearing them on a night out. alexander's new and modern take on the classic peep toe boot is definitely a favorite in the fashion industry.
jimmy choo light up platform sandal
reminiscent of the chunky, light up soled sneaker's that primary school kids toddle about in, jimmy choo's latest spring 2010 platform sandal's are no child's play. think disco fever but beneath your feet and these shoes are guaranteed to get the party started. the platform heels which sit roughly 5 inches above the ground feature technology (which i am not too familiar with and actually have no clue what i'm talking about so i'm gonna shut up) where every step results in a flash of a lightbulb hidden inside the shoe's transparent heel. the brightly colored platform which is partly constructed out if transparent plexiglass is available in two color variations, a classic black sandal with a neon yellow heel and a racy red under sole vs. multi-colored straps, pink heel and a similar vivid red under sole. the colorful kick is bound to get you noticed were ever you go.
victoria will from the nypost.com, bravely strutted around the busy streets of downtown manhattan in the platforms and was literally swarmed people curious to find out more about the footwear she was wearing. woman after woman after woman, inner child bursting at the seams desperate to own a pair of the exclusive shoes with one woman even walking backwards down the street to get a better look. CRAZED FASHION STALKER MUCH?
as far as the advertisement picture goes don't even get me started. i'm not one to criticize a major company's work but i.m.h.o. they got it soooooooo wrong.
CREATIVE DIRECTION CONVERSATION FAIL NO 1 "so spring yeh?" "yes!" "idea's?" *long pause cause thats how dumb bitches work* "OHMAIGAWD" "yes?" "why don't we try putting her in a bikini and team it with blue lighting to channel a kind of spring SENSAYSHUN?" cause thats so creative my friend.... not. plus they didn't even bother to light up the shoes! it's one of the main reason's these shoes are selling like donuts at a fat camp......because of the light people!. do they incorporate one of the most eye catching qualities into the photograph? no. F.F.F.F.F.
anyways my friends not to leave on a bad note.... but most jimmy choo stores in the manhattan area are out of stock and there is even more of a fierce cyber diva battle for purchasing online. retail price of $2,495US

the bootie (i love the word bootie, is that wierd) is constructed from genuine leather it features a front zipper and a second layering placed overtop of the zip closure, for lacing up. with eyelets that resemble a hectagon nut screw, a relatively solid sized heel and a large zipped open peep toe area the boots scream rocker chic. the shoe comes in a variety of colors black, green/khaki, brown and a black leather with black and white pinstripe. retail price starting at approx $800US
